For 24 hours, participants in the annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life will have more fun than might be expected at an event where cancer is a focus. But as anyone who has participated in the Relay for Life knows, the mood is about hope, survival and celebration.

Relay for Life is serious fun in fight against cancer
Once a month a handful of women in Orem get together for an evening of socializing, entertainment, laughter and food. They are over 50, don’t care what you think, and flaunt their red and purple clothing, which is often adorned with feathers, flowers, boas and other gaudy decorations. They are the Utah Valley Girls, a chapter of the Red Hat Society.
